MARSHALL STUDIOS

Written by Connie Zeigler

Marshall Studios’ Jane and Gordon Martz were pioneers of Modernist ceramics in mid to late 20th century Indiana. They produced beautiful and useful items for the home that were so notable as to be included in the 1953 MoMA Good Design exhibition. They were in good company. Charles and Ray Eames, Harry Bertoia, Raymond Lowey and Stig Lindberg were among their peers that were included that year. This issue of Commercial Article is illustrated with family photos, product display shots and a collection of Marshall Studios’ artfully designed catalog covers. This is the first publication entirely devoted to these Indiana treasures.

Similar in length to our previous editions, this issue also folds out into a 25" x 37" poster that displays your own copy of the famous M101 lamp at the actual size!
